As you likely know, professional recording studios charge extremely high fees and produce hi-fi professional sounding recordings. Their prices are fair considering that they must either lease or buy expensive commercial real-estate and pay for the expensive industry-standard gear which fills their spaces. Regardless, this high cost makes commercial recording impractical for many musicians. For me as a young songwriter and composer, that high cost made recording impossible. That’s why, over many years, I developed a semi-professional recording studio in my own home. After years of recording my own music, I realized that I owed it to musicians like me to make my resources publically available. Therefore, I have created Soundbox Studios to help others learn songwriting and composition and to record their music for a fraction of the price that they would pay at professional studios. I am able to do this because my studio is my home; I do not have to pay for commercial business space and the gear that I record with, for the most part, consists of items I would have purchased for my own personal use anyway.
